My Art Gallery - a place to have fun and share art.

Hi guys,
Recently, one of my favorite Metal Artist invited me to be part of a small group that presents our work in a roving gallery show of our combined efforts.

My first show will be in Chicago in the month of July. If you are in the area, please stop by.

Here is a link to one of the fliers on it.

I am a Art Metal Jeweler, A Sculptor if you will:

I am a Photographer:

I am a philosopher:

The theme of my current work is Art through Color-Blind-Eyes:

I have to thank my mentor and friend Steve for the idea for this photo. As you may not know, i am partially color blind. It really pisses me off at times, then i remember that what having weak color vision does for me is train me to look at scenes not from the perspective of color but content shape and form to name a few. I owned a one hour photo studio for many years, When good photographers brought a photos into my shop, i could tell right away if they were brought up in the color camp or the black and white camp. What little color i shot, i shot as a black and white logic. Black and White camp photographers, more often than not create the best color photos, because color becomes complimentary to other more key elements of the shot such and form. Not being able to see all the colors still pisses me off though.

What Steve said reminded me about was, that it is thought that Vincent van Goug and Monnet, i think it is Monet that founded pointillism. What is thought is that they drew what they saw. In the case of Van Goug, he must of been pretty crazy! In the case of pointillism, i can relate, if i take of my glasses and draw with dots, i would create pointillism. So i think the founder was nearsighted :)

This shot is a metaphor for how i see color. It is not an attempt to capture it exactly as i see color. I see more colors than presented here. What i did that was interesting with this shot, was to take all 8 primary and secondary colors and remove all the color from the scene to create a black and white scene. I then moved the colors strongly over for each one separately. Those colors i could see i kept, those i could not i left black and white. What you see is what is left of my palette with a bunch of artistic interpretation. But in a strong way this is how i see color.

I have had to do the same thing with my jewelry. One of the main reasons i do not work with precious stones is i can not get a good handle on the color. My jewelry is designed from a black and white perspective.

My sister is here too:

and one of here latest creations:

needless to say, she stretched my imagination very early on. I personaly still think she should use more white space, she calls it black space. She says she is afraid of large open spaces hehe.

She invented putting studs/brads on levis. Three years latter everyone was doing it. She was the original punk rocker. 10 years before anyone got close. I had a glimps of purple hair 10 years before anyone else got near it, actualy i think it was flaming salmon pink.

I think her art needs to transmute more lol. I am working on her.

i pause) it is then that i awaken
but sleep walk as each day cascades
and i wonder what i did

I have just started up a blog. It is my first time doing so. You are all welcome to stop by and check it out.

What I am going to do is document my experiences on how I am building a new business, from scratch on the internet. And more importantly pass on the tricks and tips I used to accomplish in my previous business success, at the same time I apply these skills to my new venture. I will document what techniques I am trying and succeeding with and what is failing.

Once upon a time i built a pretty health business. I hope to do it again, I have along way to go. Including getting my catalog up and looking professional and my add copy. but if you are new at this, or old timer, there might be something of value in you stopping on by.
